History & Mystery: Explorations into the History of the Sacred Beekeeper

New Ways to Look at Bees: Beecentricity!
Beekeepers intuitively know that there is a deep mystery associated with the bees. Following the threads of known science we can easily come up with marvelous facts that bring even the most stalwart beekeeper into deep reverence for the Honeybee. Laura follows the same threads back into history by following sacred symbols and historical and mythological context to unveil a landscape rich with meaning that may have influenced the history of the known world more than we ever knew. Some of these threads can be seen in still living cultural events such as the Olympics and bullfighting. She will share an informative slideshow with dozens of gorgeous images of symbols throughout history into the modern era that trace the Honeybee, revealing an important formative part of our history.

Honeybee: Symbol for Activism
This era is marked by a great upsurge of information and concern about our Pollinator Species and the use of chemicals in our Agricultural system. Laura shares a rousing and informative talk on how the Honeybee is a symbol of the rennaissance and resurgance of healthy agriculture as well as a perfect metaphor to shift the conscious paradigm around our relationship to nature and our food system.
In the modern era, more and more beekeepers are developing a personal relationship with their honeybees. Not only are we beginning to relate to them in a new way, working with bees also shapes our view of the world. In this talk, Laura Bee shares a new view of the honeybee: from the perspective of the Bee! Learn to see the hive from a Bee point of view through a creative blend of science and intuitive perspectives.

Human:Beeing
A New/Old Way to Relate to the Honeybee
The Human desire to apply symbols to meaning comes from an attempt to express the ineffable. As we begin to delve into the realm of animal communication and celebration of the Honeybee, several mysteries and ceremonies have been uncovered/developed by the Melissae. Laura shares the stories and connections the Melissae are making through dream interpretation, celebrational reverence and ceremonies that serve to heal the cultural psychologoy and the current dis-eased paradigm of agri/api-culture.
