Bees as Psychopomps

In the essence of Samhain, better known as Halloween when the veils between this world and the world of spirits and ancestors are said to be thin, Laura Bee explores the rich history and mythology of the bee in light of their role as psychopomp. The term psychopomp finds its origin from the Greek language, meaning a "guide of the soul to the afterlife or various life transitions," however the concept of these escorts to the afterlife are embedded deeply in all ancient cultures. Laura Bee shares the numerous masks of this universal character of psychopomp, including; bats, angels, the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian Anubis.
