Debra Roberts

A Beekeeping Bigwig in Asheville NC, Debra's joyful relationship with the Honeybee has brought worldwide interest into her celebratory style of beekeeping.

One of the "Founding Mothers" of the College of the Melissae; Center for Sacred Beekeeping, Debra provides us with mentorship, support and inspiration.

"I have been privileged to bear sacred witness to the birth and wild flowering of the College of the Melissae, Center for Sacred Beekeeping. Laura Ferguson’s incredible Vision is clearly destined for these exact times. The College has (wo)manifested from a twinkle in her eye to a confluence of astonishing bee-loving people: teachers and stewards of breathtaking caliber and an awesome student body who harken from all over the world. I know in my bee-loving DNA that the College is one of the great epicenters of holy bee good. For anyone feeling the Call, please take the opportunity to enliven your own profound connection with the honeybees by flying the College’s way.  Blessed be, blessed bees, blessed College of the Melissae."

Les Crowder

Les, a published author, regularly shares energy, tips and networks with the College as he believes that our culture has a need to hear the true voice of the Bee.  With over 30 years of experience including Queen Breeding his beautiful stock of treatment-free bees, Les shares his vast knowledge and provides a great touchstone on the culture of beekeeping in our country. Les's powerful comprehension of the world of bee-centric and natural beekeeping has brought him into an international level and he is regularly invited abroad to share his teachings. Laura was fortunate to work alongside with Les for over a month in California and Jamaica and received his excellent mentorship.

"Laura Bee gave a talk a few years ago that led me to the conclusion that our troubles with bees and the environment in general

are rooted more deeply than the industrial age or the “green revolution”.

They are rooted in a loss of ability to see ourselves in the biology that we live in.

When Laura works to relate to bees in an old/new way and to bring the feminine energy back to beekeeping,

she is asking us to advance out of patriarchy and into respect;

to transform extractive capitalism to socially and environmentally healing businesses;

to move from competition to cooperation."

"Laura is an inspirational leader with a heart as big as the sky!

Helping people and creatures has been her mission for decades.

She incorporates Anthropology, Biology, Sociology and the Sacred in her Beekeeping mission and is spreading the word that

Bees need our support to counteract the troubles visited upon them.

She has taught both Traditional and Bee-Centric Beekeeping and

founded the College of the Melissae to focus on the latter.

People from all walks of life have learned from her

and she has always found a way to accomodate people without means.

She is a wise and fascinating speaker and a true ecological activist.
