Tinah, our intrepid First Year Beekeeper from the Netherlands, works with her husband in caring for a brand new hive of bees. One of the many benefits of working with Tinah is the fact that she and her husband uses senses other than sight to experience bees and work as beekeepers. Tinah, who has fully embraced the College of the Melissae; 6 Fold Path of Sacred Beekeeping, brings a unique and powerful perspective to the study of bees.
In our conversations I have the opportunity to share observances through rich detail. I seek to explain things like colors (teal is “water grass green”) and symbols in a different way, reaching into a way of “seeing” that is synesthetic. And I learn from Tinah. By studying with her I have become more aware of echo-locations and the subtle awareness shift that creates in me.
Beyond this remarkable and fascinating way of perceiving the world, Tinah also brings deep symbolism, devotion and creativity to her work.
